Little Auk Sugar Jar

The Little Auk Sugar Jar is inspired by one of my photographs taken in Svalbard: a bird called the Little Auk flying in front of the Arctic’s towering mountains, a fleeting moment of lightness in a vast and silent landscape.

This functional piece is hand-shaped in white stoneware, illustrated with slips in cool tones that evoke the polar sea and northern peaks, and finished with a transparent glaze that adds sheen, protection, and brings out every detail of the illustration.
The design carries the contemplative aesthetic of the collection, blending everyday functionality with an artistic spirit that turns each use into a quiet ritual.

Originally intended as a sugar jar, it can also be used as:
• a container for honey, fine salt, or specialty spices
• a jar for loose-leaf tea or ground coffee
• a decorative accent for shelves or tables
• a small vessel for jewelry, trinkets, or daily essentials
